Priory Park Coaches

Priory Park ABC has a dedicated team of coaches. Coaches who give up their time and put in 100% to help the boxers reach their peak level of fitness and keep them sharp for coming events. Without the help of the coaches the club would not be where it is now.

Paul Gough (Head Coach)

Put simply, Paul Gough is Priory Park. Paul started boxing when he was 18 after his father had introduced him to the sport. He has never looked back since. Paul joined Dudley ABC under coach Ronnie Brown where he enjoyed success. At the age of 21 Paul first got into coaching at Dudley. After taking over at Priory Park with cousin Steve Gough, Paul has done so much to turn the fortunes of the club around. Priory Park now thrives in the boxing world and is a name on everyones lips. Paul will however confess that this would not have been possible without the help of his assistant coaches.

Stephen Gough (Assistant Coach)

Steve is a training assistant at Priory Park and Club Life President. He started with the gym in from the beginning with Paul and is a ever present figure at the club. Concentrating at the moment with Steve Ghent on training new starters to the gym, Steve with the others plays a vital role in the club affairs.

Having been a boxer at amateur level himself Pete is aware of the level of fitness the boxers need and helps them to achieve this though rigours training exercises.

Steven Ghent (Assistant Coach)

Parents of the boxers at Priory Park play an important role. They travel to all the fights, they support their child by buying them equipment, taking them training etc. Steve took this to the next level. He decided to join the coaching team here and ever since has been an important member of the team for the past 6 years.

Mark Yates (Assistant Coach)

Mark is the newest member to the coaching team. As a committee member for 18 months he was aware of the strain on the coaches as the members of the club grew. As a result of this Mark decided to don a tracksuit and help train the boxers.

Stuart Broadhouse (Assistant Coach)

Stuart has been with Priory Park for almost over two years. Working hard alongside his fellow coaches, Stuart is one of the Assistants on the beginners team of coaches. Working to help new members of the club progress in the sport is hard and you have to have the right type of personality to do so. Lucky for Priory Park and its new members Stuart has the right credentials.

Behind the Scenes......

The coaches don't always get the recognition that they deserve. Even more so there are people behind the scenes at Priory Park that have been affiliated with the club for so long and help the club through effective management and admin work. The people in question are the committee members. The Priory Park committee help make important decisions for the club, they work tirelessly to improve the clubs facilities and without their help and dedication the club would not have been granted permission to extend and grow. Many thanks to...

Georgina Gough, Tracey Gough, Brian Ghent, Michael Boyce, Carl Rhodes, Tony Collins, Angela Shingler and Debbie Bowen. All the above coaches are also on the Priory Park Committee.
